Kedaran the Black

Warden of Castle Salaisus

Necromancer

Kedaran is first named as the warden Minalan installed at Castle Salaisus, replacing Taren, who had begged to be relieved. Minalan recalls Kedaran was "a great help in preparing necromantic spells before Olum Seheri." He is already established as Minalan's necromantic specialist β€” a rare skill in the Kingdom.

Thaumaturge

Kedaran is referenced as the sole necromancer on Minalan's staff, a Spellwarden teaching Minalan basic necromantic theory. Minalan plans to have him consult Master Ulin for countermeasures against the rising undead threat, and invokes his teachings when attempting to initialize captured bodies.

Marshal Arcane

Kedaran the Black is a necromancer who serves as the new Warden of Castle Salaisus, replacing Taren in that role. In Marshal Arcane, his mastery of dark magic and his position at Salaisus make him a significant figure in the ongoing supernatural conflicts. His epithet "the Black" speaks to his necromantic specialization.

Preceptor

Now also called "Kedaran the Necromancer," he is a senior member of Minalan's council of sages β€” invited with Taren, Pentandra, Lilastien, Heeth, and others to examine mysterious artifacts. He quips, "Oh, I talk to a lot of dead people. They'll tell you all sorts of secrets just to keep you talking to them." He and Onranion jointly deconstruct the spellwork of a recovered rod. Later, Kedaran summons Minalan urgently to Castle Salaisus mind-to-mind about something he refuses to discuss telepathically β€” demonstrating his reliability ("nor was he prone to unnecessary drama").
